Event description

Description

This research orientation class serves as an introduction to the Asian Division’s collections and provides guidance for conducting research in Asian studies at the Library more generally. The class begins with an overview of the Asian Division’s history and a survey of its seven collections: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Tibetan. The remainder of the class focuses on how to utilize the Library’s online catalogs most effectively, requesting materials in a closed-stack library, accessing popular electronic resources available for on-site use only, and finding Asia-related materials (maps, photographs, etc.) in the Library’s other reading rooms.

For more information about the Asian Reading Room, please visit https://www.loc.gov/rr/asian/.

Individuals requiring accommodations for any of these events are requested to submit a request at least five business days in advance by contacting (202) 707-6362 or ADA@loc.gov.

Patrons are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes prior to the orientation. Seating is available on a first-come basis. Registration does not guarantee entry after the orientation start time.
