Event description

Do you have a writing project you need to focus on this semester? Would a regular schedule, like-minded grad students, and a little peer pressure help you reach your goal?

Join the University Writing Center and the LBJ School of Public Affairs for a weekly Saturday writing group, every Saturday in April. This is a sustained writing group – meaning our focus will be on project accountability and quiet, sustained writing time.

  • Graduate students from all disciplines are welcome
  • Group meets weekly at 10:00 a.m. at the LBJ School for one hour (room to be assigned)
  • This is a 5-week series, beginning April 1st and continuing every Saturday in April
  • Group size is limited to 10 students, so please sign up only if you can commit to all sessions. (If you have an unavoidable conflict on one of the sessions but really want to join, let us know.)
  • Weekly schedule: 10 minutes of accountability check-ins and 50 minutes of quiet, sustained writing. Participants are welcome to stay and continue writing after the group’s official end time.

About the group leader:

Jen Cooper is the Director of the LBJ Writing Lab: You can reach her at
