Satsang is a power trio led by songwriter Drew McManus, creating a unique blend of Soul, Folk-Rock and Hip-Hop. Satsang delivers lyrics that come from and are rooted in change, growth, awareness, and imperfection. The live show is everything that the band name suggests: a gathering of people to assimilate and share their truths. The rhythms put forth by the band keep the audience on their feet, and the lyrics leave them craving active and positive change. Satsang has toured across country and shared the stage with the likes of Michael Franti, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Trevor Hall, and many more.

Lead singer and songwriter Drew McManus creates music for his soul, fueled by the ever present task of personal growth and the beautiful life that he found in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. Commenting on his difficult upbringing in Des Moines and residency in Chicago, McManus says, “I grew up in an environment where aggression, violence, abuse, and addiction were always present. It made me a lot of things; angry, sad, and ashamed. I hated my story and I was a slave to addiction. I tried for so long to hide from the reality of my story and the reality of how beautiful life could be.” It wasn’t until an intense spiritual experience lead Drew to break his cycle of addiction. “I had changed my entire outlook on everything” say McManus, “I began to realize that had everything not happened to me exactly like it did, I would not be exactly who/where/what I am right now.” In an effort to share his revelation with others who may be in the same predicament, Drew began to write every day. “I was flooded with the urge to write down the lessons that kept revealing themselves in this surrender. And the connections I began making with other people by making this music vulnerable and open, began to change everything.” These songs are a statement of lessons learned and a further understanding of self, “A person's whole story is what makes it beautiful, not just the good bits.

On March 20th, 2017 the band released their sophomore full length album Pyramid(s) on the Rootfire Cooperative Label. The album features guest appearances by Nahko Bear and Tim Snider of Medicine For The People, Wookiefoot, Tubby Love, and Grammy Award winner Chris Berry. Within the first week of release, Pyramid(s) quickly rose to #1 on the Billboard Reggae charts and #2 on the iTunes charts. This critically acclaimed album was then followed up by a 5-song EP release in December 2017 titled In Between Another Blink. This surprise released was dropped with no advance promotion and immediately cracked the top 20 on the iTunes Singer/ Songwriter chart. Now entering a new year with these new tunes, Satsang is poised for more magical moments.

NEW KINGSTON

Welcome to New Kingston’s “Rock 2 Roots tour 2019” in support of their latest single, “Rock 2 Roots”!

This internationally-touring family has been taking the world by storm, appearing at some of the most prestigious Reggae / World music festivals throughout Europe and the United States.

Their schedule over the last several years has been coupled with both headline tours as well as appearances alongside international stars! New Kingston’s roots begin in Kingston Jamaica and land in Brooklyn New York.

The “Rock 2 Roots tour” is testament of their dedication and gratitude to their fans worldwide. New Kingston’s music is the perfect combination of roots reggae with a modern voice and uplifting message.

New Kingston is a progressive reggae group whose members combine their Jamaican heritage with the urban sounds of their New York home, New Kingston are a family band consisting of brothers Tahir, Courtney Jr., and Stephen along with their father, Courtney Panton, Sr. A first-generation Jamaican-American, Courtney the elder was active in New York's reggae scene before turning his sons on to the music of their island heritage. Born out of jam sessions in the family's Brooklyn basement, the brothers began their career playing Bob Marley and Earth, Wind & Fire covers at parties and gatherings around the neighborhood. By 2010, they'd become focused on their own writing, which fused R&B, hip-hop, and dancehall with traditional reggae sounds. With each brother writing and offering vocals, Courtney Sr. filled in on bass. Following their self-released debut, In the Streets, New Kingston went on a European tour with rising reggae star Collie Buddz, playing a number of prominent festivals. Their sophomore LP, 2013's Kingston University, earned them a deal with New York label Easy Star Records, which issued their third LP, Kingston City, in early 2015. Boasting an increased production value and guest spots by the Tribal Seeds, the Wailing Souls, Sister Carol, and Sugar Minott, Kingston City raised the band's visibility considerably, topping Billboard's reggae chart upon its release. An EP, Kingston Fyah, arrived in the summer of 2016. - Timothy Mongor
