About this event

The Lowell PTSA will be sponsoring the SAT Boot Camp again this year, which will be held virtually via Zoom. The course will be taught over a 2-day period, October 16th (1-5pm) and and October 17th (10am-12pm).

This intensive six-hour workshop will introduce students to the content and structure of the SAT. Three sections of the test--Reading, Math, and Writing & Language (grammar)--will be covered in detail. Instructors will teach students concepts and techniques that will be tested on the SAT, then students will reinforce this knowledge through guided exercises conducted during the workshop itself.

Prior to the workshop, registered students are highly encouraged to complete a 3-hr SAT practice test. Hardcopies will be available outside the College Center (rm. 116) as of September 21. The workshop will refer to questions in the practice test and students will benefit from being familiar with the content. (The practice test can also be found in the book Official SAT Study Guide 2020 as Test #10, as well as online at

The SAT Boot Camp and all PTSA-sponsored college readiness programming can only be made possible with your support. Please consider having a parent/caregiver and the student become a PTSA member at weekend test prep workshop would normally cost over $150 per student; it is made available for free for our PTSA members.

Note: The UCs (University of California) and CSUs (California State University) are test-blind and do not consider test scores. Virtually every other college is test-optional for the fall 2021 admissions season. Students who choose not to test will not be disadvantaged in the admissions process, though submitting a score that meets/exceeds a college’s average score could enhance your application.
