Event description

Description

Want to learn sashiko in a relaxed and casual environment from a professional sashiko teacher? In this class we will work with scrap fabrics to build a piece that can be used as a placemat, part of a tote bag, or added to a larger quilt or garment project. Or just doodle for the meditative fun of it!

Vintage Japanese textiles will be available to view and inspect hands-on.

Boro is made of layers of scrap fabrics, typically old indigo-dyed cottons, stitched together with thick thread. You can read about one of the pieces in my collection on my blog, The Ardent Thread.

Class fee includes a kit with fabric, thread, and needle. Please bring scissors.

Parking in the area is a mix of free and metered spots. I suggest hunting out the free spots if you can, and walking a bit if needed. Carpool! Or take the bus. The nearest stop is at Broadway and Santa Clara Ave.
