Event Details

HANASAP HANA, SAP’s massively parallel, in-memory database and application server platform, hugely accelerates analytics performance over very large datasets. HANA simply makes things possible that weren’t possible before. For example, what could a 10,000-fold improvement in query performance do for you?

Get hands-on training from the SAP Startup Focus program to start prototyping and developing on SAP HANA. This two-session short course will examine the technological advances and innovations that make SAP HANA so high performing, and will install, configure, and use SAP HANA tools over real data. We'll consider the possibilities and potential impact of real-time, big data analytics for science, business, and research.

Friday, January 31st, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM — Introduction and Fundamentals

Learn the technology fundamentals of this important platform in this first session, and install, configure, and use SAP HANA tools in your own HANA instance to build data models, stored procedures and more.

  • SAP HANA Technical Overview
  • Setting up the SAP HANA Development Environment
(SAP HANA Studio and SAP HANA on AWS - AWS credit provided!)

Friday, February 7th, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM — HANA Native Application Development

SAP HANA is a fully enterprise-ready relational database, but it also provides application sever capabilties and rich application fuction libraries that enable you to build and deploy full analytic applications. In this second session, learn what's possible in HANA beyond the usual things expected of a database.  It's a lot!

Topics:

  • Advanced Application Development in SAP HANA
  • Text and unstructured data analysis in HANA - full-text search, sentiment analysis, and more
  • Geo-spatial processing in HANA
