Event description

Description

Morning (9:30 am12:30 pm) and Afternoon (1:304:30 pm) sessions available. Sign up for a half day or both parts of the day for a full day experience!

Inspired by the Screens: Virtual Material exhibition, participants use large looms, yarn, and natural materials to create woven “screens” through the practice of SAORI weaving.

From the Zen vocabulary “sai”, meaning everything has its own dignity, and “ori”, meaning weaving, this freestyle contemporary weaving technique emphasizes the individuality of the maker through spontaneity and freedom of expression. With this adaptability, SAORI weaving is an excellent medium for artists of all ages and abilities.

Create for a half-day (3 hour session) to produce a nature-inspired wall hanging, or both parts of the day (6 hours total) to create a larger wall hanging, scarf, or placemat.

All are welcome! No weaving experience necessary; participants at all levels invited.

All materials provided.

Half-Day Rate Members: $75; Not-Yet-Members: $85
