Event description
Santa Poco offers the type of slide guitar-emboldened tunes that float throughout a dusty roadhouse or romping dance hall.

About this Event

"Let's start a band!" was the sentiment between Andy Shofner and Pat McHenry in the Winter of 2018 as both of their current projects had to weather the departure of core members. When the dust settled and a full lineup was finally filled, they found they had formed a band that was re-energized and poised to be en route to something special.

Pat McHenry, known for his work with Mon Cheri of Spokane, WA, had slowly come back around to his Texas and country roots in 2013. His success in music had come early in the form of songwriting in his pop-rock band winning The Inlander's (E Washington, N Idaho, W Montana region) Best Songwriter several years in a row and syncing many of his original songs to various shows (MTV Cribs, Cougartown, Foxnews), commercials (Comcast, The Superbowl, Kelly Slater Wave Co), movies (Connect To), and jingles (Global Credit Union, The Cut Shop, Oliver). But his earliest memories were of attending George Strait, Alan Jackson, and Brooks and Dunn concerts when he was just a kid growing up in the San Antonio heat. "I just fell in love with pedal steel guitar."

Andy Shofner had grown up on George Strait and classic country gold. He made a name for himself burning down honky tonks and venues all across the south Puget Sound area in his band Colt and the Peacemakers for many years. He brought along with him bassist Jordan Binkiewicz. "Jordan and I have been friends since we were kids, it's great having a bass player that knows you so well."

Bruce Weitz cut his teeth on the road touring the country and abroad with his hardcore band Vayden. He found success signing with Jeff Hanson's now defunct Silent Majority Records. He relocated to Seattle a few years later and started playing with Pat around western Washington. "I found Pat through a friend that heard he was looking for a drummer. I called him up and I really loved his songwriting."

Kevin Redlich of Tempe, AZ had relocated to Seattle after finding success in many Southwestern bands as a highly sought after guitarist gun-for-hire and songwriter earning the nickname 'Shredlich'. Having known Bruce from earlier days spent hanging out in the Arizona desert, he rounded out the band with his dynamite guitar playing and rockstar personality.

With songs about rough and tumble characters mixed with emptying whiskey glasses, Santa Poco offers the type of slide guitar-emboldened tunes that float throughout a dusty roadhouse or romping dance hall. Thorough storytelling mixes with mean electric leads that inspire folks to don their ten-gallons, pull the boots up over their denim blue jeans, and hit the town for beer swills and swing dances 'til dawn. They put out their first record July 26, 2019. You can hear it digitally on Spotify and Apple Music and via purchase through this website on 7" Vinyl and CD.
