More about Santa Barbara wines:
Living in Los Angeles, the wine region of Santa Barbara is just about in our own backyard. It is an amazing wine region producing world-class wines and yet many people are not aware of the diversity and uniqueness of the area. For example, did you know that Santa Barbara is the only area where there is a transverse mountain range in North America? This means that the air flows straight from the ocean down the valley bringing in fog and wind. Santa Maria, Sta Rita, Ballard Canyon, Happy Canyon and Santa Ynez are the current AVAs within Santa Barbara County and each are known for specializing in different varieties.
