Need more insight into how to process the sand tray with your play therapy clients of all ages? This is the workshop for you! This interactive training day will provide guidelines for use with a variety of counseling approaches, but more importantly experience in how to process the completed sand tray with the client. Examples of children and adults work in the sand tray including pictures of trays. Participants will explore the work they are currently doing and how they might enrich it for their clients and progress in therapy to reach treatment goals.

PLEASE BRING 10-15 MINIATURE FIGURES!

LIMITED TO 20 participants. Participants must have attended a Sandtray Therapy 101 or other basic sandtray training; or, be using sandtray therapy.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of the day, participants will:

1. learn two new techniques to process/discuss a completed sand tray with a client

2. be able to discuss how to process a sand tray from at least one additional play therapy/counseling theory

3. learn of parallel process in the sand tray and within the play therapy sessions (i.e. ‘shifts’, themes, play disruptions, etc.)

4. identify how the tray assists in ‘containing’’ the client’s work

5. explore the differences between trays constructed by clinical and non-clinical individuals

6. practice in developing prompts for the client to facilitate movement in th therapeutic process
