Event description

Description

Help us protect a unique mountain’s native ecosystem in the midst of the peninsula’s urbanized landscape. We will plant a rich variety of native species at the parking lot entrance such as wild cucumber, hummingbird sage, and California fuchsia. This park is home to rare plants and animals such as the endangered San Bruno elfin butterfly, San Francisco wallflower, mission blue butterfly, and San Bruno manzanita.

Meet at the main parking lot near the entrance off of Guadalupe Canyon Parkway.

Make a difference through volunteering with the Stewardship Corps. Volunteers and park staff work together at different locations each week to restore native habitat and beautify the San Mateo County Parks. Come explore the County Parks while lending a hand with invasive plant removal, planting native plants, and seed collection.

Drop-in individuals and families are welcome. Registration is encouraged but not required for participation. Groups of eight or larger need to be confirmed at least seven days in advance. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have the Volunteer Agreement signed by a parent or guardian. Youth under 15 are welcome and have to be accompanied by an adult.

No experience necessary. Training and tools will be provided. Light snacks and beverages will be available. Bring a completed Volunteer Agreement.

We work rain or shine. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Dress in layers for varying weather conditions and rain gear if needed. Fulfills community service requirements.
