Event description

Description

Roger Craig, three-time Super Bowl Champion, will join Team Challenge ALS at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon on October 8th. Running for his former teammate, Dwight Clark, who was diagnosed with ALS in March of 2017, Roger and team are hoping to raise $87,000 as Clark sported the number #87 during his entire career. To receive a charity bib, the participant commits to raising $500. If you already have your own entry to the San Jose Rock n Roll, please register as a Classic Warrior. There is no minimum fundraising amount for Classic Warriors. To register, click on the "Tickets" button. The half marathon and 10k are on October 8. The 5k is on October 7.

If you aren't able to run with us, please support ALS by making a donation today.

Once you are registered through Event Brite, you will be asked to set up a fundraising page through Just Giving as part of the registration process.

The ALS Association builds hope and enhances the quality of life for persons with ALS while aggressively searching for a cure. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within two to five years of diagnosis.

The dollars raised from our team at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon will benefit cutting-edge research, vital patient care programs and important advocacy work of the ALS Association. The Golden West Chapter serves more than 1600 ALS patients and their families a year. The financial burden suffered by people with ALS can reach nearly $200,000 annually. The Chapter provides no-cost services to ALS families which include support groups, home visits, insurance counseling, referrals to community resources, durable medical equipment loans, the Care Connection program, education, and support. There is never a charge to any of our patients.

You can make a difference in the lives of those who have been affected by ALS. Please support our cause today!

If you have any questions, please contact Colleen O'Farrell at cofarrell@alsa-national.org. Or please call 202-464-8822.
