($23) —Sides— • Late Fall Fruit Plate: Persimmon, Pear, Apple and Pomegranate with lemon thyme ($5) • Buttermilk Biscuit with herb butter ($4) Beverages are not included, but our fabulous bar menu is currently being finalized, so drink orders/donations can be made in person. Presenting the first-ever, Super Amazing San Francisco Vegan Pop-Up Shop & Market (SASFVPUS&M for short)

December 7th, 11-5 & December 8th, 12-6 

 

The first weekend in December we'll be hosting a fun little vegan mini fest unlike any the Bay Area vegan community has ever seen. We're creating an intimate shopping and socializing experience set in a 100-year-old Craftsman-style duplex next to Golden Gate Park and the DeYoung Museum. For a short time, we have access to this gorgeous empty apartment and we decided putting it to use in this way would be our small gift to the veg community we love. Happily, many of your most favorite Super Amazing Vegans have already signed up to participate and we're adding more folks and features everyday.

 

Josh Hooten from Herbivore Clothing is packing up a traveling version of his iconic Portland, Oregon shop and bringing it on a plane all the way to San Francisco, just for you! He'll be bringing a variety of great gifty stuff for you and every one you love, think clothes, stickers, buttons, socks, belts, totes, candles, shea butters, jewelry, and more. 

Miyoko Schinner has realized the world will be a much better place when her mouth-watering, mind-boggling, super-savory, cruelty-free cheeses are available for retail purchase, so she'll be in attendance with a Pop-Up Cheese Shop sure to make you all cry tears of joy. (We will have tissues on hand.) I have been assured there will be lots of cheese—but be warned, I love cheese and given the chance, I will happily go into debt for Miyoko's cheeses.

• Sweet Mel from Obsessive Confection Disorder is working like the magical elf she is to make sure we have loads of Christmas caramels and assorted confections for you to obsess over.
JUST ADDED! Leanne Mai-Ly Hilgart of VauteCouture will be here both afternoons with her Pop-Up Salon. She'll be showing pieces from her new line and doing custom fittings for new orders. Read her blog post about it here and make an appointment to spend some quality time with a true master of her craft.

Swagger Cosmetics—the Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay, 2013—will be in the house with pretty pots of glittery glam for all your holiday parties and new year's celebrations.

• Jen and Shawn Fosnight of Never Felt Better & 2 Cents Button Co will be here with a bonanza of buttons, including DIY ones for you and the kids to personalize, color, and make your very own.

• The incredible folks from Food Empowerment Project will be here with all kinds of good info for you to pick up and share with loved ones. 

• In honor of the great work FEP does raising awareness about slave labor in chocolate, Pinko's Vegan Mercantile will be purveying a variety of glorious creations from Lagusta's Luscious—socially responsible, artisan-made, extraordinarily exceptional chocolates.

• We know how you all love the sweets so Pinko's will also be offering cupcakes and assorted pastries from SF's one and only, Jenny Bradley.
• Local handcrafted tempeh makers, Melissa & Bessie of  Rhizocali Tempeh, will be in the house (and probably also in Philip's brunch menu since he's their number one fan)! 

Chef Josh of Por Vida SF is creating exclusive gourmet savory snack gift packs perfect for you, perfect for stuffing in stockings, and perfect for your office gift exchange!

Pinko's will also be curating an interesting mix of hard-to-find vegan goods that you may not have ever had—some of our personal favorites that we've been wanting to share for some time and some beloved vegan icons that are hard to find in our city by the bay, like Sweet & Sara smores!

• And, we're working hard to bring you a little something to ease your holiday shopping stress, the Gift Certificate Marketplace! We'll have a variety of gift certificates you can purchase for vegan businesses near and far (Philp GelbLagusta's LusciousVegan Cuts (with a special Pop-Up only discount!), Julie's Original, Delicious gluten-free baking mixes from Julie Hasson, and MORE!). Gift certificates make great holiday gifts for your most beloved vegan friends and family but they're also a great way to introduce the non-vegans in your life to some of the most awesome products the vegan world has to offer. Supporting vegan businesses and crossing folks off your holiday shopping list at the same time? Check!

 

 

BRUNCH!!

Oh yes, there will be brunch! And I'm absolutely over the moon with joy about the options we'll be offering on both days. We are very excited (and lucky) to have Philip Gelb preparing brunch foods for us on Saturday. He and his good friend and colleague, Miyoko Schinner, have decided to collaborate on a brunch menu that will offer some of his faves paired with her artisan cheeses. UPDATE!! Saturday brunch menu has been finalized! {Two brunch seatings at 11:30 & 1:15 Saturday.}

PLEASE DO NOT ORDER. (Eventbrite wants to oversell, but all orders placed after this announcement will have to be cancelled and refunded. Seats are available for Saturday at 1:15.)

We've been wanting to inject something fun and new into SF's somewhat lackluster vegan scene for several years now. We almost realized our dream with Pinko's Vegan Mercantile back in 2012, but there were troubles with the space. We pursued another venue for several months after that one fell through, but it was also plagued with landlord issues.

Luckily, both those options fell through, which meant we were able to take an amazing opportunity that presented itself earlier this year. We were unexpectedly given the chance to buy the building we've lived in for more than a decade. It needed a lot of work, but we were happy to take it on instead of losing our home to an eager investor. After much love and effort and hard work, we will begin booking San Francisco's only vegan vacation rental in 2014! We are so excited! And to celebrate (and give something back to the vegans of the Bay Area that have patiently waited for us to bring them a shop), we are gifting this weekend Pop-Up Shop & Market to the community we love. We are looking forward to meeting and eating, socializing and selling, smiling and laughing, and EATING with all of you that can make it out for this unique, not-to-be-missed event.
