Interested in finding your San Francisco ancestors, before or after 1906? Looking for Gold Rush pioneers or researching family homes? Want to learn how San Francisco grew into the beautiful city by the Bay we know today?
Join the conversation with the CGS San Francisco Special Interest Group (SF-SIG). We uncover records, view historical photographs and maps, read historical newspapers, manuscripts and other San Francisco records. Our core research guide is Nancy Peterson's book, Raking the Ashes: Genealogical Strategies for Pre-1906 San Francisco Research, published by CGS.
Bring your questions and your expertise so we can help each other. We may not find all of the answers, but we will pool our resources and learn together. Our meetings include problem solving discussions, presentations on specialized topics, occasional guest speakers and field trips.
The SF-SIG is open to all skill levels and meets on the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Sandra Britt-Huber is the group facilitator.
We are located in the historic Bruner Building at 22nd Street & Broadway, one block north of the Paramount Theater, in Uptown Oakland. We are just three blocks from the 19th Street BART Station. Parking is free on Saturdays in the lot behind our building. A parking permit will be included with your registration confirmation.
Class size is limited to 30 attendees. Pre-registration is required.
Special Interest Groups are free to CGS members.
Non-members are welcome to attend one meeting at no charge; thereafter, you may join CGS and attend for free or pay $10 for ech meeting attended.
