How Claims is Changing the Way We Authenticate and Authorize in SharePoint
With the release of SharePoint 2010, Microsoft introduced a new concept called "Claims" into its authentication and authorization capabilities. SharePoint 2013 went a step further making Claims Based Authentication the default method for verifying that users are who they say they are when they login. Claims, and identities in general, are playing a bigger role in the security capabilities of systems like SharePoint, enabling us to solve some new and exciting challenges for our customers. This session will introduce the concepts of claims based authentication and authorization and discuss how identity is changing the way we secure applications. It will include details on how to configure and use of claims in SharePoint 2013, as well as practical authorization examples from commercial enterprise, military and government. Finally, it will present the options available for customizing these processes in Microsoft SharePoint 2013.
