Getúlio Ramalho is well known around the world in communities dedicated to Brazilian dances, but his artistic career began in 2000 at the Cia Dance company in his home town of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He then studied the circus arts and in 2001, made his circus debut with a performance of balance and strength on the rolling seesaw. To further grow in dance, in 2006, he began his study of contemporary dance in the Dance School of Grupo Corpo. Then In 2010, he was the star of the dance show "An Open Door ", in which he fused the circus arts with contemporary dance and theater. This unique art landed Getulio on the finals of the television competition show “Qual é o Seu Talento?”, and on television screens across Brazil.
In addition to contemporary dance, Getulio, has a long history of study, performance and teaching in traditional Brazilian ballroom dances such as zouk, Forró, and samba de gafieira. After teaching at numerous Brazilian schools and festivals, Getulio wanted to bring Brazilian cultural dances to the world. In 2011, he did a tour through Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Holand, teaching classes of Zouk/lambada, Samba and Forró. He was then invited in 2012 by the International Cultural Exchange through POA (Partners of the Americas) to do an international tour in the USA teaching classes in Minnesota, Colorado and Wyoming, which were a great success.
Getulio is known for his outgoing and sensual style of dance, always prioritizing the communication between partners, versus the combination of steps. He is currently teaching and performing dance in Brazil and abroad.
This is a workshop for samba de gafieira, which is a Brazilian partner dance.
