About this event
We offer a high-energy, hands-on, five-week samba percussion workshop led by instructors from Unidos de Aotearoa, a Brazilian Samba School that unites Brazilians in NZ with local people who love our music so we can all celebrate Carnival samba, Rio and São Paulo style!
5 workshops Sessions run every Tuesday from 26 August to 23 September.
WHO should attend: Beginners and improvers keen to play Brazilian samba percussion
WHEN: Tuesdays 26 August and 2, 9, 16 and 23 September.
WHAT TIME: 7:30 to 8.30 pm (followed by a usual UdA ensaio/practice – feel free to stay, listen, and keep learning!)

WHAT SHOULD I BRING: Yourself – instruments are provided!
COST: $100 (covers all 5 sessions)
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
Samba workshops include:
· An introduction to the basics
· Learning patterns and playing techniques for each instrument
· Playing both in instrument sections and together as a whole group
· Learning visual and whistle cues for starting and stopping
· Learning 'breaks' - the introduction of a different pattern, or a section playing on its own
· Learning two or three different rhythms
· Having fun, making new friends!
