Event description

Description

To commemorate the final weekend of the exhibition “Jeffrey Gibson: Like A Hammer,” the Mississippi Museum of Art welcomes Choctaw singer-songwriter Samantha Crain to the C Spire Stage in The Art Garden.

Crain's music echoes Gibson's own work that draws upon traditional native visual practices to create something new that resonates in contemporary life. "I really feel that in order to keep the language alive we need to be, as Choctaws, making more music that speaks to what's important to us, and making our new traditional songs.” – Samantha Crain

This event is free and open to the public.

Exclusive for Members: Register by Fri., Jan. 25, at noon to reserve parking, VIP Seating, and a spot on the guided pre-concert exhibition tour at 11 AM >> https://bit.ly/2QZxvWH
