The Museum SFV is pleased to have return Ed Barkett, President of the Canoga Owensmouth Historical Society as he will be the History of Speaker for June in a salute to San Fernando Valley's Gold Star Deaths of the Vietnam War. The event will occuer on Flag Day.
Over 53,000 Americans died during the war. A total of 315 men from the Valley died over the course of this war.
All communities of the Valley suffered deaths, from two each from Arleta and Studio City to thirty-two deaths from Burbank.
Come and learn about the men who sacrificed their lives for their comrades in arms and for their country.
Find out who were the first and last men from the Valley that died in the war, and all those in between. Come and learn about the three Valley men (all U. S. Marines) who were posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Come and learn about the men from the Valley who returned as prisoners of war and about the small number of men from the Valley still missing in action. This will be a powerpoint presentation with numerous photographs and an abundance of information.
