Black, White or Pink? Or something in between...

Join us at The Biondo Bar for an afternoon of exploring and tasting salt at La Biondo Farm & Kitchen on Vashon Island.

It’s a delicious mystery; add salt to something bitter or sour, the sourness or bitterness disappears. Add it to something sweet or umami, and those flavors are accentuated.

Our exploration will include:

  • Where does salt come from?
  • How does salt get its color?
  • Taste salt naked, and on different foods, including salt cured meats and fish.
  • Experience how salt will take a food from Bland to POP in your mouth.
  • Learn what salt to use when in cooking and serving.
  • Sample several salts from near and far, including some from my recent trip to Italy.
  • Take home a sample of your favorite salt.

Maximum 8 people

Workshop includes wine, education, salty hors d’oeuvres, and a sample of your favorite artisan salt. Make it a birthday or other celebratory outing with friends or family!

They helped me to savor a wide variety of oils from several different countries with contrasting colors, flavors and "mouth-feels".
