Event description

Description

Join us for an afternoon with Elaine Weiss, award-winning journalist and writer whose work has appeared in The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Philadelphia Inquirer. She has worked as a Washington correspondent, congressional aide and speechwriter, magazine editor, and university journalism instructor.

In conversation with Callie Khouri, Weiss will discuss her book, The Woman's Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote about one of the greatest political battles in American history: the ratification of the constitutional amendment that granted women the right to vote.

This is the finale event for the citywide book club, in anticipation of the upcoming 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote.

Callie Khouri is the Oscar Award–winning screenwriter of “Thelma & Louise,” the creator and producer of the television series “Nashville,” as well as many other screenplays for film and television. She continues to be honored for her writing as well as her commitment to the honest portrayal of women on screen. She currently has several projects in development.

Ticket Cancellations

Reserving a ticket is a commitment to attend. In order to keep tickets free, we need for the number of free tickets reserved to accurately reflect the expected crowd. If your plans change after you have reserved a ticket, please cancel your reservation or email us at least 48 hours in advance so we can give the ticket to another patron. If you reserve a ticket, but are unable to attend, you will be leaving an empty seat that could have been reserved by someone else. The success of this program and future ones relies on your cooperation.

On-Site Tickets

This Salon@615 is a free, ticketed event. A very limited number of tickets will be available on-site on the day of the event, after which walk-up guests will be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strongly recommend arriving early for the on-site and walk-up ticket line.

To ensure a guaranteed seat, ticket holders need to be seated by 2:55pm. Any seats that are unfilled at 2:55pm will begin to be filled with walk-up guests. Once all auditorium seats have been filled, guests will be accommodated in alternative viewing locations.
