Description

Presented with Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum

At the turn of the 20th century, our embrace of the automobile forever changed how we move people, goods, and services. With the rise of autonomous vehicles and increasingly customized trips, we are at another inflection point. Cooper Hewitt curator Julie Pastor discusses The Road Ahead: Reimagining Mobility exhibition which raises questions of how we will share our streets and how we will move people and goods in the future. While no one really knows where these mobility transformations will take us, this particular juncture offers profound design opportunities. How might we evolve more equitable and accessible mobility options that benefit everyone? This talk will explore a selection of design responses that are making transportation safer, more efficient, and increasingly customized to our on-demand needs, helping us imagine connected systems in aspirational ways that truly address how we want to move and where we want to go.

Registration opens to the general public the week before the event. To receive prioritized access to this and other events, please consider joining the library. Membership begins at under $8/month. If you'd prefer to register over the phone, please call 401-421-6970.
