THE SALMON RUNS ARE ON THE VERGE OF EXTINTION

Dams, water diversions, poor water management and now cliamte change have rapidly depleted the salmon populations. In 2014 only 5% returned to spawn and in 2015 that number dropped to 1%.

THERE IS STILL HOPE

In the face of political and environmental turmoil, The Winnemem Wintu Tribe and their allies will be launching a crowd funding page to begin raising funds for phase 1 of their restoration project to bring back the genetic descendants of the wild chinook salmon runs that once spawned on the McCloud river before the Shasta Dam was installed.

Medicine Tribe and Honor The Earth are partnering with the Winnemem Wintu Tribe to continue moving forward with the tribes historic efforts to restore their ancestral salmon runs and continue carrying their Run4Salmon prayer this coming September.

JOIN THE TRIBE

In this historic effort to restore our salmon runs. Follow the prayer and follow the Tribe to learn more about how to join the movement.
