Description

Join us for Tillamook's first-ever Salmon Watch Science Hike on Saturday, November 25th. Staff members from the Tillamook Bay Watershed Council and the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership will lead a 2-hour hike along Mill Creek--a tributary of the Trask River--exploring a one-mile section of private stream known for its large population of spawning Chinook salmon. Coho and chum salmon may also be seen spawning in the creek or hiding in and around large wood structures that were installed in 2016. Learn about the salmon life-cycle, the habitats that salmon require, and the work being done in Tillamook County to protect and restore salmon.

Where to meet: the Port of Tillamook Bay Building, 4000 Blimp Blvd., Tillamook OR 97141

What to bring: Proper clothing for the weather and hiking off trail (warm clothes, rain slicker, boots, hat) and Polarized sunglasses if you have them.

Explore Nature is funded in part by the Economic Development Council of Tillamook County, Visit Tillamook Coast, and Tillamook PUD. Please help us provide our funders with attendee demographics by answering the optional questions during registration. Your responses will be kept anonymous and will enable us to more effectively market the Explore Nature Program. Thank you for your help!
