An Active Chance to Explore the Relationships Between Salmon and Working Forests

About this Event

Salmon in the Trees and Trees in the Salmon – Let’s Explore!

Do you know that salmon feed forests – and forests feed salmon – and people help?

On this adventurous walk through a local, Coast Range forest we’ll explore the fascinating details of these interdependent relationships.

As part of the Build Local Alliance’s ongoing series of “Walk in the Woods” learning adventures, up to 20 brave souls will walk through Hyla Woods’ experimental forest and adjoining state forest near the Nehalem’s headwaters with knowledgeable scientists and experienced forest stewards in search of spawning coho salmon and the secrets of the many ways that salmon, forests and people nurture one another.

Participants should be ready for an energetic walk, over uneven terrain, most likely in some mix of rain, mud, snow, good company, and sun.
