Sahabhāva: A Virtual Indian Classical Music & Dance Festival
Event Information
Description
About Sahabhāva
Sahabhāva is a Sanskrit word for coexistence, community, and coming together. This festival features primarily Vancouver-based musicians, dancers, and scholars who will perform and present online to bring people together through artistic harmony. Virtual access to all 10 events is available for $15.00 CAD, with proceeds going towards providing honorariums for our featured presenters. Due to self-isolation protocol because of COVID-19, artistes are currently unable to seek gig employment, nor can they teach in-person instruction. This festival’s intent is to provide support to our featured teachers, performers, and scholars during these conditions. All virtual events will be accessible to donors via livestream (Zoom) and a private online archive.
This program is curated by the Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver (ICMSV) and Aṣṭa Alliance, with the generous support of the Centre for India and South Asia Research (UBC), as well as our promotional partners the Society for Indian Music and Arts (SIMA) and Nritya PSU.
