Event description

Description

Our Jesuit mission calls us to see, know, and serve our students as “whole people," with intentional care and attention to each person's unique needs, circumstances, gifts, talents and challenges. This offers our community both an opportunity and a serious responsibility. Safety Net Training is designed to help attendees gain knowledge and build competence managing situations that involve Georgetown students’ health, wellness, and safety, especially around issues of depression, anxiety, extreme stress, suicidality, self-harm, and abuse of drugs and alcohol. The training is an opportunity to learn and talk about our students' health-related experiences and behaviors, campus resources and effective referral mechanisms. It is primarily focused on discussing the undergraduate experience.

All new staff members should be encouraged to attend Safety Net Training, but the session is also beneficial for senior-level colleagues who have not attended recently.

This event will be co-presented by Katie Boin, Director of Student Outreach and Support, and Carol Day, Director of Health Education Services.
