The aim of the workshop is to share experiences from how Safety-II has been used by various industries and in various practices. The workshop will give the participants an opportunity to present and discuss the lessons learned – good as well as bad, practical as well as methodological.

The two day workshop agenda covers 4 key themes:

1. Safety II at the operational level - Understanding work as done
2. Safety II and Organisational and Individual Learning
3. Safety II as a Management Principle
4. Safety II at the Strategic Level

Each half day theme will include:

1. Micro tutorial by Professor Hollnagel
2. Industry presentations of case studies in practice
3. Panel Discussions with Erik Hollnagel, David Provan and industry leaders
4. Open Q&A Workshop Session

We welcome additional questions and topics to be raised by attendees. The following industry professionals are confirmed and will present their case studies and experiences.

Kym Bancroft from Urban Utilities will present many of the successes they have had with Safety II that were showcased in the "Doing Safety Differenty" Documentary released in December 2019.

Campbell Warren who is now at Coates Hire will share how he has worked with different leadership teams to make Safety II a management philosophy.

Michelle Oberg from Downer will share their work to incorporate Safety II into their existing safety programs. She was also the researcher who conducted the "Woolworths Safety Differently" Project and she will talk to us about that as well.

Mark Alston will show you how to incorporate Safety II into your Incident Investigation process through Blue Line Investigations.

Josh Bryant will share how Mitchell Services Ltd have incorporated Safety II into their daily routines and operational practices.

Drew Rae will teach us about applied research techniques to gather data and analyse data about normal work and what goes well.

Jim Marinus currently at ConocoPhillips on the North Slope of Alaska, formerly an Operations Leader within the US National Laboratory will share their current work on organisational learning and the re-shaping of safety and operationaly practices towards Safety II.

Deirdre Lewis will share her journey at Origin Energy in shaping leadership understanding of frontline work and implementing practices that enable work to go well.

We are also excited and fortunate to have Andrew Barrett, Chief Connector at Safety on Tap sharing insights from the #Safetyclutter scorecard and how Safety II supports us to evolve the role of Safety Practitioners. Andrew will also facilitate many of the sessions to ensure our collaboration and learning objectives are met.
