Description

The Boulder Police Department in collaboration with the Association for Community Living presents a free Safety First course for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Safety First is a free five week course taught by Boulder Police Officers.

  • Decision making skills

  • Street smart safety

  • Home security

  • Fire safety

  • Getting around town safely

  • Calling on police support and 911

Safety First for Adults offers small group activities, some classroom-style lecture, and lots of positive interactions with police and fire fighters.


Course Guidelines:

1) Registration is required. You must register and attend the entire course (contact us for exceptions). Course dates are: 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, and 4/4.

2) The last class on April 4th is graduation day and pizza party! Parents, guardians, and friends are welcome and encouraged to join!

3) Class time is 4pm to 6pm. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early as the group must be escorted together to the meeting room.

4) If the participant uses any devices for accessiblity, supervision, or other supports to navigate the community, please bring those devices, supervision, or other supports with you to each class.
