Safeguarding God's Children
Safeguarding God’s Children provides participants with the information needed to protect the children and youth in their lives and the ministries in which they serve.
The program goal is to protect all of God’s children from childhood sexual abuse and inappropriate behavior. The curriculum is taught regularly at Episcopal churches throughout the United States, Colorado, and once every 4 years at Christ Church.
The training is a three hour training that consists of two video presentations, information and discussion. One of our own was recently trained to lead workshops, Tammie Sawicki. She will co-lead the workshop with another qualified trainer from the Diocese.
Those who will benefit from this workshop:
o Parents of children and/or youth
o Adults (or youth over age 16) who work in ministries with children/youth this is mandatory and required training every four years)
o All of those in church leadership (staff/vestry/volunteer leaders)
Trainings are scheduled at Christ Church on Saturday, August 17th and Saturday, September 14th from 9:00 to 12:30 with a continental breakfast being served. To receive your 4 year certification, you only need to attend one of these workshop dates.
It goes without saying that the more people who receive this training in the congregation, the safer our church will be for children and youth. Safeguarding God’s Children training is best experienced in a group. But for those who cannot attend at this time, online training is now available.
