Safeguarding Equality and Democracy in Israel: A Conversation with Daniel Sokatch

Tuesday, April 30 7:00-9:00 PM

The New Israel Fund (NIF) helps Israel live up to its founders’ vision of a society that ensures complete equality to all its inhabitants. From Israel’s first rape crisis centers to fighting discrimination, NIF-funded organizations have driven positive social change and furthered justice and equality in Israel. As the organization celebrates 40 years since its inception, join us for a special evening with NIF CEO, Daniel Sokatch. Hear about the achievements, triumphs, and struggles of the leading organization advancing democracy and social justice in Israel, and what’s in store for NIF in the years to come.

Daniel J. Sokatch is the Chief Executive Officer of the New Israel Fund (NIF), the leading organization committed to equality and democracy for all Israelis. Before joining NIF, Sokatch served as the Executive Director of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties. Daniel is the founding Executive Director of the Los Angeles based Progressive Jewish Alliance. In recognition of his leadership, Sokatch has been named to the Forward newspaper's “Forward 50,” an annual list of the fifty leading Jewish decision-makers and opinion-shapers, in 2002, 2005 and 2008 and 2010.
