Description
In 2020, the world will gather in Stockholm at the Third UN Ministerial conference on Road Safety to examine the results at the end of the Decade of Action, and to chart a new course toward zero fatalities in 2020 and beyond. The Decade of Action has helped stabilize the rise of global road fatality rates, but we are yet to see real change in lowering them. 1.35 million lives continue to be lost each year around the world.
The Third UN Ministerial conference aims to bring about a major shift in how we tackle road deaths – by reinforcing the link between road safety and other critical sustainable development challenges, particularly the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda. It envisions a multi-sectoral approach bringing together national and local governments, public and private enterprises in the pursuit of shared goals that can impact road safety. The World Resources Institute is hosting a global group of thought-leaders to help us imagine what these new approaches to road safety will look like. We invite you to attend this discussion.
