Description

Join Zen Priest Jaune Evans and Kumu Hula & Zen Priest June Kaililani Tanoue for a three day meditation and hula retreat in Wood Valley and Volcano, Hawaii. The three days are designed to help you relax, get grounded, and strengthen your mind/body connection.

Weʻll delve into the nature of compassion through Zen meditation, just sitting and bearing witness to our precious life. Weʻll explore hula, the cultural heartbeat of the Hawaiian people, in the place where it was born, and practice embodiment through this gentle dance form. Weʻll walk mindfully through the dynamic landscape sacred to the Fire Goddess Pele and learn that we are not separate from its flora and fauna.

Rev. & Kumu Hula June Ryushin Kaililani Tanoue is a fully empowered Zen Priest and Zen Teacher in the White Plum Lineage and co-founded the Zen Life & Meditation Center, Chicago. Born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii, June is a fully empowered Kumu Hula (master teacher of the Hula) and runs Halau i Ka Pono - The Hula School of Chicago.

Rev. Jaune Ando Evans is an ordained Soto Zen priest in the Everyday Zen lineage of Shunryu Suzuki Roshiʻs Branching Stream Lineage. She serves as the Executive Director of Tamalpais Trust, a philanthropic foundation dedicated to supporting Indigenous-led organizations protecting sacred lands and waters, human rights, cultural life ways and gender empowerment.
