Event description

Description

A festival of extraordinary antiquities, Teachings & Sounds from the mysterious Ancient lands of Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, Ladakh and Bhaktapur.

A Rare Opportunity to view and purchase unique and ancient antiquities from the Roof of the World. Open forum talks will be mentored by two nationally known Buddhist scholars who will reveal the history, symbolism and profound omnipresent power contained within the remarkable artifacts on display.

To experience Buddhist/Tibetan devotional art is to gaze through a precious window into the realm of Enlightenment. A world that is not directly touched, from within our Samsaric reality, but rather eluded to via emblematic archetypes, figurative symbolism, allegorical paradigms and ideographic metaphors; in an other word: Art.

A sculpture of Buddha or a Bodhisattva is experienced as intrinsic due to its the exact application of sacred geometry. It is designed to empower and to awaken the naturally occurring Bodhi presence within each of us. Life itself creates a frame work of inherent knowing which we, as conscience beings, expressed through literature, music, sanctified architecture, consecrated sculpture and paintings. Encountering a sacred art opening is to widen the mind to ever expanding vistas of great realization.

7:00 PM – Unprecedented performance of Sacred Sound featuring Tibetan Singing Bowls and the Reciting of A Blessing.

7:45 PM – Talk: Symbols and Icons of Himalayan Buddhist and Hindu art, presented by Richard Rudis. We will examine the secret language of sacred symbols and their meanings.

Open Forum/ Richard Rudis and Diane Mandle will be available to answer questions and further explain artifacts and sound experience. Participants are also encouraged to bring personal artifacts (collected from the Himalayan region) for blessing.
