Sacramento Valley Regional Climate Symposium
Event Information
Description
The State of California has released the Fourth Climate Change Assessment, which provides the scientific foundation for understanding climate-related vulnerability at the local scale and informing resilience actions. The Fourth Assessment includes a report on the Sacramento Valley Region; UC Davis faculty members Benjamin Houlton and Jay Lund were the coordinating lead authors for the report with 25 additional contributing authors.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Join CRC, leading climate researchers and scientists, key state agencies, local jurisdictions, and community leaders for the Sacramento Valley Regional Climate Symposium to learn about key findings from California’s Fourth Climate Change Assessment and opportunities to advance local adaptation initiatives!
This workshop will highlight new findings on key climate risks impacting the Sacramento Valley region with a special emphasis on rising temperatures and shifting participation, public health, community planning, and local and land use and natural habitats. Participants will also learn about financing mechanisms, funding opportunities, key tools and resources while also engaging in interactive discussions to inform the update to the State’s Adaptation Planning Guide.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This workshop is open to the public. We strongly encourage public agency staff (cities, counties, regional agencies, special districts, etc.), elected officials, non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, private consulting firms, advocacy groups, students, and individuals interested in learning about the latest climate science to attend this engaging and informative event.
