Event description

Description

Community members are invited to participate in Human-Centered Design Research workshops to help us discover solutions towards homeless sheltering in Sacramento. These workshops are donated by professional facilitators at Uptown Studios at no cost to the City of Sacramento or the County of Sacramento.

Session 1: Business leaders, investors, owners, and business members passionate about this topic in the Sacramento area are invited to attend

How Human-Centered Design can help
Human-Centered Design is a process that has been used for decades to gain insight from audiences and design solutions. This process will help us build an awareness of what the business community, the faith-based community, and homeless citizens want and need. The outcome will be solutions that are meaningful to all participants and steps that can be taken to achieve the end goal of homeless sheltering.

Uptown Studios will conduct three Human-Centered Design workshops as Community Discovery Groups. Human-Centered Design will help deepen the relationships with community members, broadening the understanding of community issues, and see what the model for success might be in different populations. Our hope is that we will discover trends that overlap each of the groups we interview and we can build some solutions on the consensus that we discover.

Light Lunch is provided

We will be setting up three 90 minute sessions with these groups of diverse people:
1. Business Leaders - 20-30 participants
2. People using shelters currently - 20-30 participants
3. Faith-based and other service providers - 20-30 participants
