Playa Viva is host to a turtle sanctuary, an organic farm that provides your included meals, and miles of untouched beaches teeming with whales, dolphins and birds. What to Expect
Each day will start with a guided meditation followed by some gentle yoga appropriate for all skill sets and bodies. If we’re lucky (wildlife depending) we’ll release baby turtles from the sanctuary in the morning!
Each day will be filled with experiential learning activities, mini lectures, and time for group discussion. There will be no boring powerpoint lectures!
Time each day for rest, personal reflection, surfing, boogie boarding, ride horses, enjoy a massage, swim or rest by the pool.
Bed down in delightful and rustic beach cottages, all with an ocean views.
Enjoy a relaxed, intimate and peaceful atmosphere amongst a community of like-minded physicians and healthcare professionals.

After our retreats, Wellness for Doctors offer ongoing group conference calls to help you stay on track and implement your new learning into your life. Our experience is that the phone calls after the Retreat help our participants immensely by offering support and help when you return home and face new challenges at work.

The Treehouse is located in palm trees as living "piers" raised 6 feet above the ground. Room is outfitted with a King Bed, private bathroom, ocean view and small lounge area with in-floor hammock. Who doesn't want to stay in a treehouse by the ocean? King bed in the "perch" can divide into two singles, plus there is an additional day bed located in "bathhouse." Private bathroom located in bathhouse is down a set of stairs from the main "perch."

The Private Casita - 1 or 2 people
Per Person Single Occupancy: $4600, After 10/15/16: $5000

This is the most private casita, with a large bathroom and dressing area, and a private balcony with couch, table and chairs. The room is outfitted with a King Bed Room is large enough to add another single bed if needed.

King EcoCasitas - 1 or 2 people

Per Person Shared Occupancy: $3400, After 10/15/16: $3750
King EcoCasitas are a one-bedroom self-contained "Casita" (little house). The EcoCasita provides complete privacy as compared to the Deluxe Suite and Studio rooms which are adjoining rooms and thus some noise is heard from one to the other. King EcoCasitas are each outfitted with a King Bed (can be separated into two singles) plus two single day beds that serve as comfortable couches during the day. These rooms have an unobstructed ocean view. King EcoCasitas have private bathroom on the same level and have shutter doors to open for full ocean view or close for complete privacy. A small table and chairs are also available. One of the King EcoCasitas has a ramp rather than stairs and is outfitted for easier use by the handicapped or elderly. It is also conveniently located closer to the Common Area.

Queen EcoCasitas - 1 or 2 people

Queen EcoCasitas are a one-bedroom self contained "Casita" (little house). This EcoCasita provides complete privacy as compared to Deluxe Suite and/or Studio Rooms which are adjoining rooms and thus can have some noise transfer. EcoCasitas are outfitted with a Queen Bed. These rooms have an unobstructed ocean view. EcoCasitas have a private bathroom on the same level and feature shutter doors to open for full ocean view or close for complete privacy. A small table and chairs are also available.
There are three Queen EcoCasitas available. We will not be placing more than two people in these rooms. Adding an additional single bed will make the room crowded.
Deluxe Suite - 1 or 2 people

Per Person Shared Occupancy: $2800, After 10/15/16: $3100
Spacious Room with a King Bed and a single bed or three single beds. Room has unobstructed view of the ocean. Deluxe Suites are part of 4 Bedroom Casita - larger structure - consisting of two Deluxe Suites each with an adjoining Studio. Deluxe Suites have private bath and share a large balcony with the other Deluxe Suite that serves as a large outdoor living room containing couch, chairs and table. Balcony has unobstructed ocean view. Because rooms have vaulted palapa roofs, this room has visual privacy but not complete audio privacy from adjoining Studio. The sound of the ocean muffles much of the noise but for ultimate privacy choose the Private Casita or an EcoCasita.

The Studios have an unobstructed ocean view and include either two single beds or one King Bed. Room also has a desk. The Studios bathrooms are downstairs from bedroom area and are private to the Studios, but shared with your roommate. The Studios have visual privacy from adjoining Deluxe Suite but due to the Casita's vaulted palapa ceilings, the room has limited audio privacy. Proximity to the ocean provides some noise coverage.

After our retreats, Wellness for Doctors offers optional ongoing group coaching calls for two months to help you stay on track and implement your new learning into your life. Our experience is that the calls after the retreat help our participants immensely by offering support and help when you return home and face new challenges at work. There will be one call a week on Sunday evenings (alternate time is possible if better for the group) for the first month, and then every other week for the second month. You can also sign up for this after the retreat.

During the winter season, there are non stop flights almost daily from Los Angeles, Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago-O'Hare, Houston-Intercontinental , Minneapolis/St. Paul, Calgary, Toronto-Pearson, Vancouver, and Montreal.
Most flights from the US and Canada will arrive in the early afternoon and you should have no trouble arriving by 6pm. Most flights back to the US and Canada leave in the late afternoon.
Transportation to and from airport will be provided by resort and is included.

REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY
If you cancel anytime before 75 days before the event, you will receive a 90 percent refund. If you cancel between 60 to 74 days before the event, you will receive a 50 percent refund. Less than 60 days, we will not refund. However, if we are able to re-book your spot before the event, no matter the time frame of your cancellation, we will refund 90 percent of your ticket price.
Q: Can non-physicians attend this retreat?
A: Yes, we welcome any healthcare professional to attend our retreats. Our target market is for doctors, but our retreat content is applicable for any healthcare professional (such as mid level practitioners, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists, dentists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and optometrists). We appreciate a diversity of professionals on our retreats with their unique perspectives.
Q: Can my spouse come if they are not a medical professional? Do you have a reduced price for a non-participating spouse?
A: Of course your spouse can come! The price is the same. Your spouse is expected to attend all classes and events as everyone can benefit from our methods of stress-reduction.
Q: What are the extra Eventbrite fees? Can I also pay by check to avoid the fees?
A: These fees charged by Eventbrite, our registration vendor. However, if you wish to avoid these fees you can mail a check directly to Wellness for Doctors. Please choose "Contact" and let us know what room you are interested in and we can process your registration. You will see a 2% Regenerative Trust Fee on your bill at the time of departure. 100% of the funds from this fee are deposited with the Ocean Foundation, Playa Viva's fiscal sponsor. Ocean Foundation provides documentation for tax deduction for US Citizens. You have the option to opt-out of this fee at time of departure. However we hope you will round that number up and give more to support the turtles and other environmental and social impact activities.
Q: What is "shared" occupancy?
A: More than one occupant in a room where your roommate is assigned via gender. Bathrooms are private if the room is rented as single or as a couple, but you will share a bathroom for when you choose "shared occupancy."
Q: What special dietary needs can you accommodate?
A: We can accommodate any special dietary needs by prior arrangement (you can indicate this when you register for the event).
Q: What are check-in and check-out times?
A: Check in is usually 2 pm and check out is usually 12 noon. But, the use of Common Areas allows for flexibility in check-in and check-out times so take it easy and relax from the moment you arrive until the very last minute you have to leave. The retreat starts at dinner time on Saturday January 21st. The retreat will end 11:30 am on Saturday the 28th. Lunch is included at Playa Viva the date of departure.
Q: Can I arrive early or stay later at Playa Viva?
A: You would need to inquire directly with www.playaviva.com. They also have a sister property called Casa Viva in Trancones which is about 1.5 hours north.
Q: Do you have WiFi?
A: Yes, in the common area.
Q: Will we see turtle releases on this trip?
A: Sea turtles nest at Playa Viva all year, the only difference is the specific species/variety, and thus the volume/numbers. In January, it’s leatherback nesting season, which is the more highly endangered of the sea turtles. So there are by definition fewer of them. But there will almost certainly be some mama turtles nesting and laying eggs, and some baby sea turtles to release almost every day.

Q: Can I skip the classes so that I can do other things?
A: We are looking to create a small group of like-minded individuals to form a community bond in order to seriously address the issues of burn-out for medical professionals. We do not have enough spots for people to use this as a tourist-only vacation.
Q: What are the CEUs being offered for this retreat?
A: We are currently in the process of applying for our CME certification for the retreat curriculum. We anticipate being awarded somewhere between 16 to 30 hours for the retreat.
