Event Details

This workshop is based on a curriculum that addresses misconceptions about sleep, variations among individuals’ sleep and wake cycles, the two major states of sleep, NREM and REM, and how sleep loss negatively impacts society and health. It also focuses on the various factors that can lead to sleep disorders and treatments.

The Rx for Science Literacy workshop series provides K-12 educators a unique opportunity to tour research facilities, hear from scientists about their latest research advances and take home a free curriculum and other bioscience education materials.

Incentives for attending an Rx for Science Literacy workshop include:

  • 1 unit of certification renewal credit for North Carolina-certified educators (4 hours of additional work required)
  • Free supplemental curriculum and other bioscience education materials to use in the classroom
  • Free lunch
  • Substitute teacher support (up to $80)

For details about all workshops in the Rx for Science Literacy series, visit: http://www.ncabr.org/rx.
