Event Details

This workshop is based on a curriculum that addresses the development and impact of cancer and the research that has guided public health policies and medical interventions that are helping prevent, treat and cure the disease. It also focuses on the relationship between biomedical research and the improvement of personal and public health.

The Rx for Science Literacy workshop series provides K-12 educators a unique opportunity to tour research facilities, hear from scientists about their latest research advances and take a home a free curriculum and other bioscience education materials.

Incentives for attending an Rx for Science Literacy workshop include:

  • 1 unit of certification renewal credit for North Carolina-certified educators (4 hours of additional work required)
  • Free supplemental curriculum and other bioscience education materials to use in the classroom
  • Free lunch
  • Substitute teacher support (up to $70)
