Description

Rutgers Oncology Olympiad is an academic competition focusing on cancer diagnosis, treatment, symptoms, genetics, and healthcare specialists. The event is comprised of two rounds: an online individual qualifying test and a team tournament. Individual qualifying tests will occur online in January 2018. Students will chose one of the following dates: Thursday, January 18; Friday, Janurary 19; or Saturday, January 20. The online qualifying test will be available for 90 minutes from the time the registered students open the test on testing date chosen.

Teachers registering groups of 10 or more students may contact the Program Coorindators at cscbre@sph.rutgers.edu to schedule a different testing date and time for their students, if desired. This option may be selected on the ticket registration page.

Those who qualify for the team tournament will be notified and receive an invitation to the Team Tournament, which will take place in Spring 2018 at Rutgers University - New Brunswick. The official date of the onsite team tournament will be annouced in October 2017. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the LIFE Center at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

FAQs

Who may participate in this event?

Anyone in grades 8-12 may participate in the individual portion of the event; however, only scores in the top 10% of those taking the online individual qualifying test will qualify for the team tournament.

Where may I find resources to study for this event?

Resources may be found on the attached PDF. An email from the Sakai testing platform (sakai.rutgers.edu) will be sent 3-5 days after registering for the event which will include practice test questions and mini-lessons from our professionals for review.

How do I select when I want to take the individual test?

When you register and purchase a ticket, you will choose which date you would like to take the qualifying test. On the day you selected, you will be allowed to access the individual qualifying test online. When you begin the assessment, you will be given 90 minutes to complete the test. Your answers will automatically be submitted after the 90 minutes are completed.

How will teams be determined?

After taking the individual qualifying test, students who score within the top 10% will qualify for the team portion. When registering, you may indicate the names of members you would like in your group; however, the team average must be within the top 10% to qualify. If you do not indicate team members, individuals will be notified with the names of 4-5 selected individuals to be on their team. The team tournament will be hosted at Rutgers University - New Brunswick in Spring 2018.
