Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Write simple phrases about themselves, where they live and what they do.

  • Follow speech which is very slow and carefully articulated.

  • Understand short, simple messages.

  • Follow short, simple written directions.

  • Make an introduction and use basic greeting and leave-taking expressions.

Topics Covered

  • Learn Cyrillic alphabet, reading and writing.

  • Ask and give basic directions in Russian.

  • Understand the Russian name system and recognise some common Russian names.

  • Introduce yourself to someone and give some basic information about your family.

  • Talk about what you were doing in the past and where.

  • Ask someone else about their habits, what they do, where they live, where they work etc.

  • Ask for what you want in a shop, order a meal in a restaurant.

  • Talk about what you enjoy doing in your spare time.

  • Tell the time in Russian in whole hours, cost, quantities, and numbers.

Course Duration

40 hours (2.5 hours per class x 2 classes per week x 8 weeks.

Classes will be held twice a week: on Monday evenings (7pm to 9:30pm) and on Saturday mornings
(10am to 12:30pm). The first class will be held on Monday, 24 July 2017.

Assignment(s): 50%
Presentation: 50%

Ms. Feruza Djabbarova

Born in the USSR of the federated state of Uzbekistan. Post-independence, Feruza is an accomplished Accounting and Finance Analyst for the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank with her involved in development projects for the region. Russia and Central Asia are very important emerging markets and opportunities are abundant with the business language is commonly Russian. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, an MBA and also a member of the National Association of Accountants and Auditors of Uzbekistan. Now, she brings the Russian language to you.
