Event description
In this event of the Transatlantic Perspectives series, Dr. Richard Weitz will outline trends in the Russia-China relationship.

About this Event

Expanding Russian-Chinese ties across political, economic and military spheres are receiving increasing scrutiny in the West. Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi recently described the relationship as "exemplary", defence ties between the two are deepening and might yet reach another level with a renewed Sino-Russian Treaty of Friendship in 2021. How compatible is the Russian-Chinese outlook on international affairs with the rules-based international order supported by the Transatlantic link, and what are the implications of this outlook for Europe?

In this event of the Transatlantic Perspectives series, Dr. Richard Weitz, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for Political-Military Analysis at the Hudson Institute, Washington D.C., will give a presentation outlining trends in the current Russia-China relationship with an eye toward recommendations for policymakers. Following the presentation there will be room for Q&A with the audience. The event will be moderated by Dr. Lars Vargö, Distinguished Fellow at ISDP.

ISDP's Transatlantic Perspectives seminar series features security policy and international relations experts from the United States participating in public seminars with local counterparts and policymakers in Stockholm on issues of importance to the Transatlantic link between Europe and the U.S. The series is organized in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Sweden.
