About this event

M.E. BROWNING served twenty-two years in law enforcement and retired as a captain before turning to a life of crime fiction. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, served as a hostage negotiator, trained as a SWAT administrator, supervised the administrative division, and coordinated the Citizens Police Academy—where she met a quiet student by the name of Sue Grafton.

Writing as Micki Browning, she penned the Mer Cavallo Mysteries. Set in the Florida Keys, her debut novel ADRIFT, was an Agatha Award finalist for Best First Novel and was selected as an American Library Association Book Club Central Pick.

BEACHED, the second in the Mer Cavallo Mysteries, was awarded the Royal Palm Literary Award for Published Book of the Year, was named one of the Top Five Ocean Reads of 2019 by Scuba Diver Life, and was dubbed a “...non-stop mystery thrill ride” by The Big Thrill magazine.

As M.E. Browning, she writes the Jo Wyatt Mysteries. SHADOW RIDGE, won the Colorado Book Award for Mystery and the silver medal in the popular fiction category of the Florida Book Awards and it was awarded a starred review by Booklist.

Her follow-up, MERCY CREEK, launched October 12th and was labeled “a heartfelt procedural” by Kirkus Reviews.

Micki also writes short stories and nonfiction. Her work has appeared in dive magazines, anthologies, mystery magazines, and textbooks. A professional divemaster, she resides in Florida with her partner in crime and a vast array of scuba equipment she uses for “research.”
