Rural AmeriTowne - First Steps to Being on Your Own
Northeast BOCES is sponsoring a one day workshop for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP), a 504 plan, or are SWAP eligible. The training will be held at Rural AmeriTowne in Wray, Colorado on Tuesday December 6th. The location is east of Wray at 32415 Highway 34 (approximately 1 mile east of town).
The purpose of the training is to provide targeted students an interactive environment to learn personal banking skills, workplace employment skills, self-advocacy skills, and gain an understanding of how local communities operate. The agenda for the training will be sent upon registration.
The Rural AmeriTowne facility is impeccable; it’s a northeast treasure. The hands-on opportunity will provide each student with a unique opportunity to demonstrate their acquired employment skills. It will be an unforgettable experience for your students.
The training will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will end at 2:30 p.m. Lunch is provided. This training is free to member schools in the NEBOCES consortium. Non-member districts will be charged $25.00/student.
Students need to be accompanied by an adult sponsor or sponsors at your discretion. School transportation is required. Mileage will be reimbursed to school districts at .50 cents/mile for NEBOCES consortium schools. Please have your interested students complete the required parent permission form your school requires.
Please complete the registration form on the NEBOCES website, www.neboces.org , by November 18th. We are excited to provide this learning opportunity and we encourage your participation.
