Join Read & Run Chicago and Graceland Cemetery for an easy-paced (~11:00 min/mile) 3-mile run through Graceland Cemetery, the historic and iconic burial grounds of many famous Chicagoans including Marshall Field, George Pullman, and Daniel Burnham. As we run through the picturesque grounds, we’ll stop to hear some incredible tales of famous and lesser-known residents from Adam Selzer, historian and author of Graceland Cemetery: Chicago Stories, Symbols, and Secrets.

MEET UP: Meet at 9am on Sunday, December 4 just inside the GREENWOOD GATE (Google Maps link here). Note that the Greenwood Gate is about .4 miles north of the Main Entrance on Clark Street. There is NO PARKING available within the cemetery grounds. If you drive, please find both paid and free parking available outside of Greenwood Gate and enter the Greenwood Gate by foot.

***If weather conditions become unsafe, we will postpone the run to Sunday, December 11.***

ROUTE: Easy-paced 3-mile run inside Graceland Cemetery with several stops. Read & Run Chicago hosts running tours, not training runs. Consider this a recovery run and chance to have time on your feet.

COST: Payment of $20 is required to participate in this event. Payment will be collected upon arrival via cash or payment apps. 100% of the fees go directly to author Adam Selzer.

POST-RUN: At the end of the run, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase a copy of Graceland Cemetery: Chicago Stories, Symbols, and Secrets from author Adam Selzer. You can continue exploring the cemetery, join one of the regularly scheduled walking tours, or join Read & Run Chicago founder Allison Yates at Klein’s Bakery (Google Maps link here).
