Running for Office Candidate Training - Washington, DC (Registration limited to 30 participants)

Agenda

8am to 12pm

Campaign Strategy 101 teaches one how to think "politically" and navigate the political landscape whether running for office, planning for a career in politics or working in advocacy. This course curriculum covers creating and implementing effective political strategies for candidate and issue campaigns at all levels.

Campaign Finance 101 is a course for candidates and fundraising staff covers creating a campaign finance plan, setting fundraising goals, donor identification/cultivation/solicitation, campaign finance regulations and hiring fundraising staff.

Lunch 12pm to 1pm

Campaign Communications 101 is a course that gives instruction on creating and implementing a communications strategy for a political candidate campaign.

Public Speaking and Debating 101 is a course specifically created for women running for public office. This course offers instruction on public speaking techniques, debating techniques, debate preparation and candidate presentation.

Campaign Field Strategy 101 covers the "on-the-ground" organizing necessary for voter outreach including canvassing, phone banking, creating a voter file, set up of "store-front" precinct offices, staging locations for canvassing, set up of phone banks and organizing volunteers. The roles of field organizer, volunteer coordinator, and GOTV coordinator.

Dismissal 5pm

Is the registration fee refundable?

The registration fee is non-refundable unless the organizer cancels the session. If a participant is unable to attend a session a credit will be placed on file that may be used at any time for a future program. The credit does not expire.

Is this a partisan program or supported by a political party? Are scholarships available?

The Political Institute for Women is an independent, non-partisan organization that is self-funded through the fees generated from hosting sessions. Financial aid is available on a first come, first serve basis. Email info@politicalinstituteforwomen.org to for all financial aid inquiries.

Who are our instructors?

Our Lead Instructors are women that currently or have previously worked in government or electoral politics. Our Lead Instructors are currently working as staff for or have worked for members of the United States Congress and teach for our organization part-time.

Is lunch provided?

Lunch is provided and includes a vegetarian option, no pork will be served. Fresh fruit and granola bars will be available throughout the day. Breakfast will not be served and there will be no coffee service.
