Rundown's Single Malt Smackdown
Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM (PST)
Culver City, CA
Like art? Funny, we do, too.
Think a healthy pour of rare single-malt scotch is art? We agree. We should really hang out together.
Join us on Wednesday, January 23rd at Rundown's Single Malt Smackdown, an exclusive, subscriber-only party in Culver City's cutting-edge Mark Moore Contemporary Art Gallery.
Upon entry, you'll be greeted by a cocktail made with Balvenie Doublewood 12-year, created by Rundown restaurant editor Stacy Suaya. Sip and savor while you peruse kinetic 3-D pieces by San Francisco-based artist Andrew Schoultz and abstract expressionist paintings by LA's own Nano Rubio.
When you're ready, you and your crew will be led through an informal tasting of some serious scotch led by whisky expert Brian Summers, who formerly ran cocktail programs at Harvard & Stone, The Parish, and Library Bar.
Aside from Balvenie DoubleWood, you'll taste Caribbean Cask 14 Year (scotch that's finished in casks previously holding Caribbean rum), Single Barrel 15 Year, PortWood 21 Year, and the just-released DoubleWood 17 Year -- a new malt in the portfolio that's almost impossible to find in California.
Let alone at an abstract art event.
All tickets include cocktail and tasting (and maybe even some retastes) of 5 different Balvenie single malts, valued up to $200/bottle. Lite snacks also provided.
