Event description

NOTICE - The Oshkosh event has been canceled for 2017. An unanticipated permit was not obtained and we will not be able to host the August event at this late notice. WE HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU IN FOND DU LAC and apologize for any inconvenience. We look forward to hosting the event in 2018 on the cooresponding date.

The Fond du Lac date is 100% on and secure. Please take the opportunity to sign up now will you on the site and we look forward to you joining on us on November 10th.

The Fond du Lac Running Club and ADE Timing, llc would like to welcome you to join them for a unique running event. Run Without The Sun are cross country running events which will be run on grass courses. Events are for runners of all levels to come out and compete at sunset under the lights at the November 10th Fond du Lac event at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Race time is 7 p.m.

The event is definately for individuals but we have a real team competition as well.

Teams, made up of four runners will compete for team awards and if you want to run as an individual, we have the usual awards for you as well. If you are an individual and would like the opportunity to compete on a team, please let us know and we will find you a team. If you are individuals that have a need for a runner or two and are looking for someone to join you, let us know as well. Contact us at xcnightrun@gmail.com

Run Without The Sun is NOT a glow run. The Fond du Lac event will be run at 7 p.m., under the lights that we put on the golf course for this unique running opportunity. There will be plenty of music, refreshments, custom awards, door prizes. Plan to stay for after parties and enjoy a complimentary beverage and socialize with friends and competitors.

Run Without The Sun is an opportunity to relive your cross country days of the past as well as be a part of a cross country team competition for the first time.

For those familiar with cross country, we will score teams of three runners (rather than five) based on your place finish as in a typical cross country event. You may have a fourth or more team member but only the fourth runner will be used as a displacer and or the tie breaker.

For those that have never run cross country - it's simple. Think of it this way, when the race starts, you run the event like any other 5K. When it's over, the way the team scoring works is, whatever place you finish among team competitors that is what you score for your respective team. (If you finish 2nd, and your two other teammates finish 15th and 30th... your score is 47. ( 2 + 15 + 30 = 47). If you were to tie with another team that had 47 points, the winning team then becomes the one who has the best finish among the fourth team member.)

Don't over think it - join us as a team and be ready to run and have fun. We will tell you your score when it's over.

For team entries, we will host races for and award top finishers of, three catagories. Men's, Women's and Co-ed catagories can be entered. When competing in the co-ed competition you will need to enter two male and two female runners which will all count in your team score. If there is a tie for the team score, the higher place will be awarded to the team with the best finish amongst the fourth runner of the respective teams.

Finishers will receive a finishers gift of apparel. Top teams will receive awards for the team competition and we will also award top runners in age groups.

Age groups: 20 and under, 21-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59,60-69, 70+

Proceeds from the events will help in the development of on going events throughout the year (kids fun run, group runs, kids running series, track workouts, scholarships, pub runs, etc.) all which are free and open to the public.
