Will the race be timed?

Accepted Answer

There will be a race clock at the start/finish line for you to see and gun-to-tape times will be recorded for the first three males and first three females across the line.

Will water be provided?

Accepted Answer

Water and refreshments will be provided post-race from the finish line and also from inside The Hub's main hall.

Question 3

What facilities will there be?

Accepted Answer

Toilets can be found inside the Hub. There will also be an area inside the main hall for you to take pre-run photos.

Question 4

If I can't make the event, can I sell/give my entry to another person? Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Your entry can't be swapped with another person. There is normally no refund given once you have purchased an entry unless the event is cancelled or postponed. If the event is postponed, your entry will automatically be entered on the new date unless you wish to seek a refund.

Can I enter on the day of the race?

Accepted Answer

There will be a limited number of 5km tickets available on race day in the hour before the start unless the event's capacity is sold out prior to this. We would recommend purchasing your ticket online as there will be only a small amount of time prior to the run.

What parking is available?

Accepted Answer

Free parking is available at The Hub itself, the Swimming Pool Car Park and in the open space used for parking by Castlerea Parkrun. Please arrive for either the 5km or the 1km Kids Race by 09:15am as it will be necessary to prevent people entering or leaving the car parking areas prior to race.

Question 7

Do I have to be a quick runner? What if I want to walk the 5km? What if I am a child?

Accepted Answer

Runners and walkers 16 years or older can enter the 5km. Entrants under 16 must run with a parent or guardian at all times.  The 1km race is open to kids & parents. Marshals remain for 90 minutes after race start or until the last entrant has completed whichever is the lesser.

Question 8

Is the course marked? Is there a route map?

Accepted Answer

From start to finish (both 5km Fun Run & 1km Kids Race) we will have marshals in place preventing you from going down the wrong road or path. All marshals will be able to contact the medical team & will be wearing hi-viz clothing. A link to the maps will be added here & on display on race day (Hub)

Question 9

What do I need to do on the day?

Accepted Answer

Check-in at the Registration Desk in The Hub from 08:30am to collect your wristband. This is a requirement to run in the event for race marshals to know you are an entrant and for event management. Once checked-in you should also warm-up (there will be a group warm-up 10 mins before each run).

Question 10

Is the route safe? Will roads be closed?

Accepted Answer

No roads will be closed on the day so by entering you acknowledge that you are doing so at your own risk. The route is marshalled & designed with safety in mind & held when road traffic is lower.  The event is insured. A race disclaimer is included on your ticket if you wish to see further details.

Question 11

How do I enter my children in the 1km Kids Race?

Accepted Answer

You can enter the kids race with a donation at the registration table in the main hall of The Hub (funds raised will go to the juvenile section of Castlerea Crusaders Athletic Club).

Question 12

Who are all those people in neon green and blue gear I've seen running through the town?

Accepted Answer
