Run the 20km for Brussels for "Zero Corruption in Sport"
Sun, May 28, 2017, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM CEST
In the sports sector, we find almost all forms of corruption; clientelism, bribery, extortion, embezzlement, fiscal fraud, match fixing, doping, etc.
Without good governance, the problem cannot be tackled. Several positive trends can be reported for Belgium. To illustrate, since 2016, Flemish sports federations receive subsidies not only based on membership volume, but also on adherence to basic principles of good governance. This due to a code and indicators of good governance in Flemish sport federations co-developed by Arnout Geeraert (expert of Transparency International and Postdoctoral Researcher LINES Institute – KU Leuven International and European Studies).
Transparency International will register a group of runners for the 20 km of Brussels 2017 to campaign for ZERO CORRUPTION IN SPORT. In this group, colleagues, members, volunteers, family and friends are invited to join us.
Date of the race: Sunday 28th of May 2017. Start: 10 am.
The registration fee amounts to € 45 or €30 for students/unemployed/interns and includes the starting ticket, the Transparency International shirt Zero Corruption in Sport and your TI fanclub waiting for you with a drink and snacks in the Transparency House in the Parc Cinquantenaire after you finish.
After you submit your registeration, you will receive a confirmation via email. We will also ask for your previous bib-number and time achieved in 2016 or, if this is your first participation, your estimated time needed to cross the finish line.
For those who registered last year, you will receive an email from the 20km for Brussels organisation directly on 15 March with information on how to register individually. If you run with us, we kindly ask you to disregard it.
Shortly before the 28th of May, you will receive an email with further practical details about the event.
You can pick-up your number, bib-tag and shirt at the day of the run between 8-10 am in Transparency House in the Parc du Cinqantenaire.
Please note that the registration fee is non-refundable.
You are welcome to join our weekly trainings in the Forêt de Soignes. The group meets on Sundays at 10am for a running session of an hour. Meeting point: coming from Chaussée de la Hulpe, the parking at the end of Drève du Compe (https://goo.gl/JeMyH8).
